Match Day Guidelines

EVENT DETAILS

 

Match Day is scheduled from 7 am to 5:30 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2014, in the Junction City Municipal Building Auditorium, 700 N. Jefferson Street.  (Online gifts can be made at www.gearymatchday.com between 12:00 a.m. - 11:59 p.m. on May 14th)

 

Representatives of your organization are encouraged to be on site throughout the event, but this is not a requirement for participation.

 

DONATION INFORMATION

Matching funds of $40,000 are available to provide a 50% match up to $5,000 per organization.  Thank you to Central Charities Foundation and the R2B4 Bramlage Family Foundation for each providing $20,000 in matching funds.
 
Donors will select which organization fund(s) to support.  100% of their donation will go to the organization’s GGCF fund.  Although gifts of any amount are welcome and encouraged, donations of a minimum of $25 will receive a local match at 50¢ on the dollar up to a maximum of $1,000 per charitable organization per donor.  

 

For example: Jane Doe makes a $1,000 donation to Organization X, $1,000 will go to the Organization X MCF fund. Organization X will receive a $500 match from GGCF.  If Jane Doe makes a $2,500 donation to Organization X, the matching grant from GGCF will be $500.


Combined donations up to a total of $10,000 will be matched at 50%, giving a maximum of $5,000 in matching funds to any one organization.

 

Donations are tax deductible.  If donors provide an email address, all gifts (cash, check and online) will generate a receipt at the time of the donation and an additional receipt will not be mailed.  If no email address is provided, donations made by cash or check will receive a receipt letter after the event.  Cash gifts will also receive a hand written receipt at the event.

 

Each individual donor should write one check made payable to GGCF for a total of all gifts to various agencies.  A separate form will be used to indicate which fund(s) will benefit.  Donations by participating organizations to their own fund will not qualify for the match or
incentive prizes.

 

Donors are encouraged to make gifts in person at the event.  If a donor is not able to attend the event and does not want to make an online gift remotely, another individual may bring a gift in for them.  Checks should be dated 05/14/2019.

 

Volunteers will be available at the event to accept check & cash gifts as well as assist with online donations.

 

Donations are irrevocable and must be made on Geary Community Match Day – May 14, 2019.

 

PRIZE INCENTIVES (Only applies to donors who make gifts in person at the Municipal Building)

 

Throughout the event, an individual donor will be randomly chosen every hour (out of that hour’s donations) to win extra green.  An additional $50 will be given to the participating charity identified by the donor.
