Specific Need
Junction City Little Theater is the longest running community theater in Kansas, Housed in the C. L. Hoover Opera House. It began in 1949, with the vision and guidance of Bettina Coover, a vibrant and imaginative woman who became an integral part of every community she joined. In 1955, Coover, Betty Cleary, Mona Kessinger and Alma Hornbaker signed the documents of incorporation which created the Junction City Little Theater
Early productions were staged at Ladies Reading Club, in schools, auditoriums, and churches and overcame significant lighting and scenery challenges, In 1960, the Little Theater began its long tenure at the 18th Street location.
In 2008, the Little Theater transitioned to the newly renovated C.L. Hoover Opera House, where it opened its 301st production, Meredith Wilson’s “The Music Man”, to sell out crowds.
As of today 2023, JCLT continues producing quality shows for the community with four shows a year. With support from the Match Day funds, it will help meet our needs as we continue to man an office in the C. L. O. H. and pay for gratuities for shows, and purchase microphones for our cast as we run shows.
Our office hours are generally on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00 – 2:00. If you need to reach anyone you can leave a message on our phone 785-238-3871 or e-mail us at JCLT office @ Gmail.com or check our website JCLITTLETHEATER.ORG
